Hamlet-lette opened this winter after student actors spent months developing their roles and exploring the character relationships and dynamics of an original script. After first spending several class rehearsals discussing the parts and identifying what made each character unique, casting decisions were made. It was very democratic and everyone was both challenged and invested in the work of giving agency to something brand new. Along the way, we all became more and more appreciative of how stereotypes and teen pressures were presented and handled in the script. It was a very satisfying project! Read more about it here.
